‘Rat Queens’ wins GLAAD Media Award
Rat Queens, the Image Comics fantasy adventure by writer Kurtis J. Wiebe and artist Roc Upchurch (now Stjepan Šejić), has won the the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comic Book. Presented Saturday in Los Angeles, the awards honor outstanding portrayals of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender communities.
The Eisner-nominated series, described by Wiebe as “Lord of the Rings meets Bridesmaids,” includes among its raucous cast a lesbian Halfling named Betty. This is the first time Rat Queens has won a GLAAD Media Award.

Avengers-themed apartment is Earth’s Mightiest Fan Cave
Courtesy of Singapore’s Aboslook Interior Design comes this incredibly swanky — and unashamedly nerdy — that features an enormous illuminated S.H.I.E.L.D. logo in the living room, a mural of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in the dining room (with an Avengers logo that cleverly disguises storage), a Hulk-dominated kitchen, and, perhaps appropriately enough, an Iron Man bedroom (Where else would you expect Tony Stark?).
Gotham Veteran Lesley-Ann Brandt Joins Lucifer Pilot
Onetime Gotham villain Lesley-Ann Brandt has joined the cast of Warner Bros. Television’s Lucifer pilot for FOX, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns has confirmed.
Reports earlier this week were that Brandt would replace Lina Esco in the role of Mazikeen.
Lucifer’s best friend, and known by “Maze,” Mazikeen is a fierce demon in the form of a beautiful young woman, according to the initial casting.

Gal Gadot responds to criticism over her Wonder Woman casting
Ever since Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 6) was cast as the new Wonder Woman for DC’s upcoming slate of comic-book flicks — starting with her first appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and then she’s off to headline the first Wonder Woman movie ever — there’s been some heavy (and pretty vocal) criticism concerning her slight frame and some, erm, shall we say less curveous attributes? But the Israeli born actress is actually taking it all in strides.
In a recent interview via Robot Underdog (it was originally given in Hebrew), where the actress details her painful, six weeks wait to see if she’d gotten the role, Gal Gadot revealed how she actually felt regarding those online haters who complained her body didn’t actually match the comic-book depictions of the well-endowed Diana, Princess of Themyscira:
“Don’t be shy. They said that I was too skinny and my boobs were too small. [Laughs] I’m really lucky nothing in my life was instantaneous. When I was younger I would take criticism really hard. But now it mostly amused me. The true Amazons had one boob so it won’t bother them in their archery. So it’s not going to be like real Amazons. We always try to make everyone happy but we can’t.”
