Luc Besson to adapt classic French sci-fi comic Valerian

The plot revolves around the character of Valerian, an operative for the space-time police of Galaxity, capital of the imperialist Terran Empire. This intrepid agent and his scarlet-haired traveling companion from medieval France, Laureline, embark on a series of daring adventures patroling the past to thwart the evil deeds of a renegade Galaxity scientist named Xiombul, clone armies, rogue planetoids, doomsday weapons, time-manipulating aliens and more.

Venus Plane Pushed for Next NASA Next Frontiers Mission

Northrop Grumman is developing an inflatable, propeller-powered aircraft for a years-long cruise in the sulfurous skies of Venus and is gearing up to enter the concept in NASA’s next New Frontiers planetary science competition.

Alex Garland Says He’s Written The Story Concept For ‘28 Months Later,’ But Won’t Be Involved Further

Yellow-Eyed Beast Of Southern Ontario

The beast was dark coloured. It stood up, then turned and looked at us with it’s yellow eyes. It had to stand roughly six, maybe six and a half feet, as there is a street sign about that height. It was snowing – about a half a mile outside of Vineland, Ontario heading west.

The Book of Phenix Book Review

in a futuristic world where race relations are depressingly similar to our own, researchers have been messing with the DNA of an African girl thought to be Mitochondrial Eve, the ancestor of all humanity, in order to create X-Men style mutants. The Phoenix of the title is one such mutant. Living in an experimental facility dubbed Tower 7, her powers lie more or less dormant until the man she loves dies – and then all hell breaks loose.

Robots could take over the world within 100 years, Stephen Hawking warns

Speaking at the Zeitgeist event in London, the physicist warned that machines would inevitably overtake human intelligence – and soon. ‘Computers will overtake humans with AI at some within the next 100 years,’ he said. ‘When that happens, we need to make sure the computers have goals aligned with ours.’
