The Flash casts its Season 2 villain Zoom

Tony Todd has been cast as the voice of Zoom, Barry Allen’s new arch-nemesis for Season 2 of The Flash.  The big bad will arrive in town to cause trouble for the Scarlet Speedster in the second episode “Flash of Two Worlds,” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Variety.

“Part of the mystery of the season is who or what is underneath the Zoom outfit, and so we wanted to do something like James Earl Jones as Darth Vader — this iconic voice coming out of this mask. Last year, we thought of the Reverse-Flash as a speed warrior; this year, Zoom is like a speed demon, and no one does demon-voice better than Tony Todd.”

“The Zoom outfit is much more organic than the Reverse-Flash suit. In a way, it’s hard to tell if it is a suit or alive… There’s no skin showing, for all you know there’s a robot underneath, or dark energy.”

Marvel Shake-Up: Film Chief Breaks Free of CEO

After what one source describes as “several years of frustration,” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has pulled off a reorganization of the film company that has him reporting to Disney studio chief Alan Horn as opposed to the infamously micromanaging Marvel Entertainment CEO Isaac “Ike” Perlmutter.

Feige, the architect of Marvel’s transition from a flailing comic book company into a film powerhouse that was sold to Disney for $4 billion in 2009, is said to have vented his unhappiness to Horn and Disney CEO Bob Iger earlier this summer. The reorganization was put into effect last week, according to sources.
